These paintings are invented landscapes, alluding to both wild and cultivated spaces, such as a backyard, a cliffside path, memories of a north Atlantic headland or almost tropical Georgia undergrowth. The painting process involves layering clusters of broken markmaking to generate vibrational color, shifting the viewing experience from recognition to sensation.
